A 23-year-old man has been arrested as part of an investigation into the death of a man found in a vehicle with gunshot wounds in Auckland last August.
Police were called around 6.45am on August 19 last year following reports of several gunshots heard on Marvon Downs Ave in Pakuranga Heights.
Tuipulotu Vi, 59, was found in a vehicle with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detective inspector Shaun Vickers said today that a 23-year-old man was taken into custody after a search was carried out at an address on Franklyne Rd in Ōtara.
He was set to appear in the Manukau District Court this afternoon charged with being a party to Vi’s murder.
“I want to acknowledge the significant period of time that has passed since this tragic incident, and our thoughts remain with Mr Vi’s family,” Vickers said.
“I would also like to acknowledge the investigation team who have remained committed to holding those responsible for Mr Vi’s death to account.”
He said further arrests could not be ruled out as inquiries continue.
“The public will appreciate there are specifics in the investigation we are unable to discuss, however we are following positive lines of enquiry to bring this case to a close.”
