The owner of a South Auckland 24/7 dairy said he’s feeling “helpless” and “scared” after being robbed twice this week.
Priyesh Dharia of No 1 Supavalue Supermarket in Ōtara’s Dawson Rd told 1News police alerted him to the latest robbery this morning.
He said having fog cannons and panic alarms installed did not deter the robbers.
“Somehow these guys are still coming in, still breaking in, and still robbing us.”
Dharia said the robbers had targeted the till, cigarettes and vapes.
“That’s what they’re going for.”
Given the store is 24/7 he said it was open at the time of the robbery and added his workers were also feeling “scared”.
“We are mentally kind of preparing ourselves right now that this will happen again.”
However, Dharia said he wanted to stand firm and keep the shop 24/7.
A police spokesperson confirmed officers responded to a reported robbery at a commercial premises on Dawson Rd just before 3.30am. No one was injured.
“Inquiries are ongoing to locate those involved.”
