Another woman, Mary Lou, is visiting Auckland from Canada and said she was told she can’t access her apartment.
“I looked out the window and I could see a police officer standing on the walkway near the park, I thought that was a bit odd that he was there for a while.
“Then I decided to go to the supermarket and do a quick errand. I saw a police car and then on the way back I got blocked and could not get back into my apartment.
“We said we live there and they just said, ‘Tough luck, we aren’t letting anyone on the street for any reason’,” she said.
Officers gave her no information other than to stay away from the area, she added.
Auckland Transport said multiple buses were affected due to what it described as an “emergency services incident”.
