British pop star Charli XCX has been confirmed to headline Auckland’s Laneway Festival in 2025.
The festival released its 2025 dates and venues this week, with the Auckland leg confirmed to return to Western Springs on February 6, Waitangi Day.
“Charli xcx will return to Australia and New Zealand to perform exclusively at Laneway Festival,” the festival confirmed today.
It was also announced that Auckland’s SkyTower would turn “brat green” tomorrow to celebrate the star’s return to New Zealand and pay homage to the colour of her most recent album entitled Brat.
“Brat green” as a colour had dominated popular culture since the album’s release in June, including being included in US Democratic Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris’ campaign after Charli posted to X saying: “kamala is brat”.
Other acts announced as part of the lineup were British bedroom pop rock icon Beabadoobee, Laneway Festival alumni Clairo, one of the biggest names in UK dance, BICEP, who present their new AV DJ show CHROMA, alternative pop heartthrob Remi Wolf, and dance floor euphoria expert Barry Can’t Swim.
Laneway Festival programming coordinator Ruby Miles said having Charli as a headliner was a “dream come true”.
Tickets would be available for pre-sale on October 15 at 10am, and general on sale starts October 16.
After Auckland, the festival heads across the ditch to Australia, playing in Brisbane on February 8, Sydney on February 9, Melbourne on February 14, Adelaide on February 15, and Perth on February 16.
