It’s hasta la pasta for Dunedin’s Artisan Pantry.
The doors close on the business, formerly known as Pasta d’Oro, this Friday, after nearly four decades of producing locally-made pasta and ready-made meals.
Co-founders Penny Dawson and Vito Iannece said the decision to sell the the Kaikorai Valley factory and shop was not made lightly.
“It’s bittersweet to close this chapter. We’ve spent the majority of our adult lives making pasta and meals and, while it’s time for us to retire, we’re excited about the future.”
Mr Iannece was looking forward to some rest and also planned to spend more time cycling along the Otago Peninsula track while Ms Dawson was keen to get the garden under control and attend more community events.
“Our factory has been our first home but now we’re looking forward to giving back to the community that has supported us for so long,” she said. — APL
