Five people have been moderately injured after two buses collided at a major intersection in Auckland’s CBD this evening.
Police said the crash at the intersection of Queen St and Wellesley St East was reported at around 6.30pm on Saturday.
St John said it sent two ambulances, one rapid response unit and one operations manager.
“Five patients in a moderate condition were treated on scene, two were transported to Auckland Hospital,” a spokesperson said.
Footage captured by 1News showed emergency services treating passengers at the scene.
A passenger told 1News the bus “swerved” and “rear-ended” the other bus.
“I was on my phone and then I got really shook up, it was quite scary. Everyone was really shook up,” he said.
A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesperson said it sent two fire trucks and one special appliance vehicle.
Auckland Transport said the buses were towed away at around 8.10pm.
“We will work with police and bus operator to support as needed.”
