An investigation is underway after a homeowner found human remains in the garden of his Wellington property.
Wellington CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Lee Underhill said the remains were found by the homeowner in his garden in Ōwhiro Bay, on Wellington’s southern coast.
Police were sent to the scene yesterday afternoon.

“The remains have been identified as human, and inquiries will look to determine how old these remains are, followed by a formal identification process, which may take some time,” Underhill said.
Anyone with information about the identity of the remains or how they came to be at the location was encouraged to contact police via 105, either over the phone or online.
