“No houses [were] damaged, which is great. Unsure of the stock losses,” Janes said.
Crews came from surrounding towns including Cheviot, Scargill, Motunau, and Waipara to help.
Motorists were earlier asked to avoid the area and to avoid using drones, because it would have forced firefighters to stop their helicopter operations.
It comes as the region experiences dry, hot and windy weather on Saturday.
Fire crews remain at the scene and will return on Sunday.
