A man has been arrested and charged after a person was critically injured in a hit-and-run in Auckland’s Henderson overnight.
Emergency services were called to Railside Avenue at around 12.25am, after a person was struck by a car which did not stop.
The person was taken to hospital and remains there in a critical condition.
Police said a 52-year-old man was arrested in relation to the incident this afternoon.
He was charged with failing to stop and ascertain injury, careless driving causing injury, driving while forbidden, and failing to carry out obligations in relation to a computer search.
“Officers have also located and seized the car believed to have been involved,” police said.
The man was remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Waitakere District Court on Monday, 16 November.
Police also appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come foward.
“We would also like to hear from anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist the investigation.”
