A man has been charged after a person was seriously injured following a shooting in Feilding in April.
Police were called to a home on Collins Crt on the afternoon of April 5, where a man was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury. At the time, police said officers investigating the circumstances behind the man’s injuries believed he was shot at another location.
A 43-year-old man was arrested after police carried out a search warrant on Friday after a four-month probe.
He appeared in the Palmerston North District Court on Saturday charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
“Although we knew that those involved in this incident were known to each other, and there was no wider threat to members of the public, there is no doubt the incident would have been deeply concerning for people who live nearby,” Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Thompson said.
“This arrest is a great result for the Feilding community.”
The man is due to reappear in court on September 17.
