A man has been charged with the murder of a man found dead in Parakao, Northland, earlier this month.
Geoffrey Wayne Ware was found by ambulance staff on his rural property off Mangakahia Rd, on State Highway 15, just before 4pm on May 9.
A homicide investigation was launched into the 55-year-old’s death on May 12.
A 26-year-old Northland man has now been charged with his murder.
Detective Senior Sergeant Michelle Harris, of Whangārei CIB, says police are not seeking anyone else in connection with his death.
Police are continuing to appeal for information and sightings of a man and a vehicle of interest in the Parakao area between 8am and 6.15pm on May 9.
An image of the vehicle – a 1999 blue and silver Mitsubishi L200 – has today been released by police as part of their ongoing investigation into Ware’s death.
“We are also interested in sightings of a man reportedly seen walking along SH14 that afternoon and evening,” Harris said.
“We are encouraging people to report on the portal link set up by the Operation Cossar enquiry team.”
A man has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Whangārei High Court on May 26 charged with murder.
