A cordless framing nailgun has been recalled across New Zealand due to a serious fault that could cause it to fire nails unintentionally.
The recall affects the AEG 18V F-RAPIDFIRE 10GA 30º- 34º Framing Nailer, sold at Bunnings between August 1, 2021 and May 21, 2025.
Nailguns were manufactured with a two step firing process: a trigger, and a contact safety tip.
Product Safety NZ said the firmware of the nailgun might allow a nail to discharge through use of the trigger alone, bypassing the two-step safety process.
“There is a risk of laceration injuries if the nailer discharges unintentionally.”
Consumers were urged to stop using the tool immediately and to check the product’s production date, which was printed on the rating label on the magazine.
The recall applied to all units with production dates prior to W39 of 2024, including all units from 2021 to 2023.
To confirm if an item was affected, customers should visit the AEG Product Recall Checker.
Techtronic Industries offered free repairs for all affected units.
Customers were advised not to return the product to the retailer, but instead to contact the company directly.
