Nine people were taken to hospital following an ammonia leak in Timaru last night.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand services were called to Meadows Rd in Washdyke around 9.35pm following a report of an ammonia leak.
Fire services responded with five trucks, including a specialist command unit and a hazardous substances unit, a Fire and Emergency spokesperson told 1News.
A St John spokesperson told 1News this morning that nine people were taken to Timaru Hospital by ambulance and health shuttle.
“Three patients were in a moderate condition and six patients were in a minor condition.”
