A person has been injured in an alleged stabbing following a two-car crash in the West Auckland suburb of Avondale this evening.
Police were called to the scene on Great North Rd near Ash St after receiving reports of a two-car crash, followed by further reports of a stabbing, around 4.50pm.
A St John spokesperson told 1News it responded with one operations manager, one rapid response unit, and one ambulance.
One person was found with an “injury consistent with a stab wound”, police said.
They were taken to hospital in a moderate condition.
The suspect was found a short time later and taken into custody.

“The vehicles are believed to be linked to the parties involved in the incident.”
Enquiries into the circumstances of what occurred are ongoing.
There is no threat to the public, police said.
