A week on for a public appeal, police still have limited leads on who killed Hamilton man John Isaac.
A member of the public found the 53-year-old’s body in the Waikato River, near the Ngāruawāhia Golf Course around 6:30pm on Thursday 18 January.
In the days after, police told Newshub Isaac suffered a “violent death” but wouldn’t go into detail about how he died.
Detective Inspector Darrell Harpur described it as a “classic whodunnit” and last Thursday made a public appeal for anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity on the banks of the river from Hamilton CBD through to Ngāruawāhia.
Detective Inspector Harpur said today that their focus remains on piecing together what happened on the Isaac’s final day.
“Our focus now is to account for Isaac’s movements from when he was last seen at Black Bull Liquor on Avalon Drive, Nawton around 3pm on Wednesday 17 January until the time his body was located in the Waikato River around 6:30pm on Thursday 18 January.”
