Police have reopened a road in Auckland’s New Lynn after responding to an “incident” involving two people at a property earlier this morning.
The incident on Portage Rd was reported to police around 3am. Inspector Rod Carpinter earlier said the incident involved two people known to each other.
He said one person had been “safely removed from the address” but the second person remained at the address when “specialist teams” responded.
Earlier, a resident said police were asking the person to come out of the building using a megaphone. They said armed officers were at the scene.
Police later said the cordons on Portage Rd had been lifted and acknowledged the public’s “cooperation and understanding” during the response.
A police presence will remain in the area this morning while inquiries are ongoing.
