A seventh person has been arrested in relation to the fatal stabbing of 15-year-old Kaea Karauria in Napier earlier this year.
Karauria was found critically injured at an Alexander Ave address following reports of disorder at 3.10am on May 11 and died at the scene despite the efforts of ambulance staff.
Two 16-year-olds and a 15-year-old were charged with murder last month, a teenager of undisclosed age was charged with intent to injure, and a 21-year-old woman and teenage girl were charged with wilfully attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Today, a 17-year-old female was charged with intent to injure. She was bailed and was set to appear in Napier District Court on October 9.
Detective Inspector Martin James said police acknowledged the team who were “not leaving any stone unturned to bring justice to Kaea’s family”.
“The investigation into the matter continues and further arrests cannot be ruled out.”
James thanked members of the public who had provided information to progress the investigation.
