Luminaries of the music world are mourning the death of Ozzy Osbourne at age 76, expressing affection and admiration for the heavy metal icon.
Osbourne died today, just weeks after his farewell show. In 2020, he revealed he had Parkinson’s disease after suffering a fall.

On Instagram, Elton John said: “So sad to hear the news of Ozzy Osbourne passing away. He was a dear friend and a huge trailblazer who secured his place in the pantheon of rock gods — a true legend. He was also one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. I will miss him dearly. To Sharon and the family, I send my condolences and love. Elton xx”
Rod Stewart said on Instagram: “Bye, bye Ozzy. Sleep well, my friend. I’ll see you up there — later rather than sooner.”
One half of Public Enemy, Flavor Flav posted to X. “Man, real heart broken over the passing of OZZY OSBOURNE, we go way back and it was a real honor to watch him get inducted into the @rockhall last year. Sending my love and prayers to Sharon and his kids and whole family. RIP,” he said.
Rolling Stones Guitarist Ronnie Wood said: “I am so very sad to hear of the death of Ozzy Osbourne. What a lovely goodbye concert he had at Back To The Beginning in Birmingham.”

Kiwi concert promoter Phil Sprey said on Facebook that Osbourne was “one of the most delightful artists I’ve ever had the pleasure to host”.
“With his passing, it cements Rock2Wgtn as the only concert ever to feature Ozzy, Alice Cooper, and KISS, the so-called Trinity of Evil, on the same bill — a one-off moment in rock history.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to Ozzy’s family at this sad time. His music, his irreverent humour, and his profound contribution to the world of music will endure forever.”
Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong said he had “no words”. “We love you Ozzy,” he posted to Instagram.
Nirvana‘s X account said: “Thank you Ozzy Osbourne for the inspiration. Black Sabbath is the template for heavy Rock.”

Pantera posted to Instagram, saying: “Thank you for all that you did for metal & Pantera. We wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Amy & Louis, we are so very sorry for your loss.”
