Vandals are suspected of damaging power infrastructure in rural Southland with police appealing to locals for help.
The “power structures” were damaged early on Wednesday morning, Winton Police said.
“The damage is believed to have been caused between midnight and 12.30am on Wednesday morning, with more damage discovered that night.”
Damage has been reported at sites on Marshall Rd and Oporo Flat Rd, Northhope, Winton Spar Bush Rd, Riverside Rd, Dipton Flat Rd and South Hillend Dipton Rd.
Police are urging anyone who travelled in the listed areas between midnight and 12.30am on Wednesday, or during the evening, to get in contact on 105 — especially if they saw suspicious behaviour or have dashboard camera footage.
People with information are urged to call 105 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
