A woman has died after being found in a Christchurch carpark with critical injuries.
Police said emergency services were called to the carpark in Riccarton around 4.40pm.
The woman died while being transported to hospital.
Police issued a statement shortly after midday on Thursday to confirm the woman’s death was not suspicious. “The woman was located critically injured in a car park, likely as a result of a medical event, and tragically died while being transported to hospital,” a statement from police said.
The death would be referred to the coroner.
Police said the woman was not Elisabeth Nicholls – a 79-year-old missing since June 4.
Officers will be putting up a drone today to help with the search for Nicholls.
