Eleven people have been injured following a fire at an apartment block on Auckland’s North Shore this afternoon.
Fire and Emergency NZ (FENZ) received calls about a house on fire in Hillcrest shortly after midday.
Crews arrived to a “well-involved” fire on the second floor of a two-storey apartment block.
Four fire trucks were in attendance at the scene on Coronation St at the height of the blaze.
One fire truck remains at the scene.
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said 11 people were injured in the fire.
Two ambulances, one operations manager and one rapid response vehicle responded to the scene.
One person with moderate injuries and four with minor injuries were taken to North Shore Hospital.
A further six people with minor injuries did not require further ambulance assistance.
A police spokesperson told 1News they assisted Fire and Emergency at the scene.
“The scene is cordoned and police are assisting those involved.”
