Three people have been arrested after Slovak police said they thwarted a planned arson attack on a drone manufacturer’s production facility in eastern Slovakia.

In a statement posted to Facebook on Tuesday, police said two individuals were detained in Slovakia while a third person was arrested by German authorities after a European arrest warrant was issued. They are suspected of preparing the attack “as accomplices on someone else’s instructions.”

None of those arrested were Slovak nationals, the force said, adding that it had acted on information provided by Slovak intelligence. It also did not provide details on the target drone maker.

“If the attack had occurred, there would have been a large-scale fire, a threat to people’s life and health, and extensive damage,” its statement reads, adding that around 70 workers could have been in the facility at the time of the attack.

Officers seized a “large amount of incendiary mixture, tools, mobile phones, an action camera and a hand-drawn plan” as part of the operation, police said.

The force also shared images on social media showing what appears to be pliers, a bottle of something resembling hand gel, and a battery pack.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
