Matakana Smokehouse NZ Ltd is recalling a range of its Matakana Smokehouse NZ brand gravlax products due to the possible presence of listeria.
The affected products include its Citrus Gravlax and Kaffir Gravlax and are sold in vacuum packaged bags ranging from 150g to 200g.
The batches recalled were packed on March 20 and have a use by date of April 10.
The gravlax is sold at Stock Deli on Marina Rd in Tutukaka, Omaha Superette on Matariki St in Omaha, and IE Produce on Barrys Point Rd in Takapuna.
It can be returned for a full refund.
Listeria bacteria can make people ill if consumed.
Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, nausea and vomiting, and diarrhoea, according to the Ministry for Primary Industries.
“Affected products should not be consumed,” MPI said on its website.
“There have been no reports of associated illness, however if you have consumed any of these products/this product and have any concerns about your health/about illness, seek medical advice.”
The recall does not affect any other Matakana Smokehouse NZ products.
