Three people have been arrested following an alleged aggravated robbery in Auckland’s Maraetai this afternoon.
The offenders, one allegedly carrying a screwdriver, entered a dairy on Maraetai School Rd at around 12.30pm.
Inspector Rakana Cook said the group stole products and attempted to run out of the store.
“Outside they encountered members of the public, who intervened and recovered much of the stolen items.”
The trio fled the scene in an allegedly stolen vehicle, which collided with another vehicle at low speed a short time later.
Cook said all three fled on foot, but a police unit arrived and took the group into custody.
“It is fortunate that no one suffered injuries this afternoon as a result of this group’s actions.
“This matter is now in the hands of our investigations staff and charges will be considered.”
A 15-year-old girl, a 15-year-old boy and a 19-year-old woman were arrested.
