Three people have been arrested and vehicles seized in South Auckland after police said dangerous driving blocked a Manurewa intersection.
Police received reports of dirt bikes blocking the intersection on Great South and Weymouth roads just before 11.30am.
Senior sergeant Nick Ewen said police established that the movements were part of a funeral procession moving from Manurewa to Pukekohe.
“The police Eagle helicopter deployed and monitored the driving behaviour from overhead.”
Ewen said four vehicles were impounded and those arrested would be “facing driving-related offences in court”.
“This is a great outcome. It sends a message that police and the wider community will not accept dangerous or unsociable behaviour on our roads.”
A further two dirt bikes were impounded by Counties Manukau staff.
Anyone who witnessed the driving behaviour or had dashcam footage was asked to call 105 using the reference number P061507502.
