The mother of missing man Travis Langford says his whānau have heavy hearts as they plead for him to get in touch.
Langford, 24, travelled from Wellington to the Waikato region where his car was located burnt-out at a farm on Tolley Rd in Ngaroma on January 18.
A search of the area where his vehicle was found involving search and rescue staff, police and the Eagle helicopter located some personal items belonging to Langford.
Private searches had also been carried out by family and friends in the same area and in the south Waikato region.
Reported sightings of a man matching Langford’s description on Sunday – including State Highway 30, 20-25km south of Te Kuiti – were today confirmed to be a case of mistaken identity, Waikato Police said.
Police say it was possible Langford travelled outside of the Waikato region since he was reported missing in January.
‘Please come home’
In a statement, Langford’s mother Angela Grocott today pleaded for her son to send “a quick text message or phone call that you are safe and are okay”.
“You are so missed by your brothers, Dad and I, Zeus and our entire whānau.
“Our hearts are heavy.
“We don’t have the words to express how much you are loved and how much you complete our lives.
“Please come home son.
“We love you.”
Anyone with information was asked to contact police.
