A player from Porirua in the Wellington region is waking up to Budget day happier than most after winning $17.2 million in Powerball First Divisions live Lotto draw.
The winning ticket was purchased at New World Whitby in Porirua.
The winner became the ninth Powerball multimillionaire this year, coming just a month after $23.3 million was won by a player using MyLotto.
Four others will also be celebrating after winning $200,000 in the Lottos First Division draw.
Those tickets were bought from Hobsonville Superette in Auckland, New World Broadway in Palmerston North, Ballance Street Bookshop in Gisborne and on MyLotto to a player from Auckland.
The luck didn’t run out with five more players won big in Lottos’ Second Division with $59,604 each.
The tickets were purchased from New World Stonefields in Auckland, Woolworths Pukekohe South Auckland, Paper Power Thames and two MyLotto winners from Northland and Christchurch.
