A woman has been charged after a crash in central Christchurch on Saturday that saw two people – an adult and a child – badly hurt.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Fitzgerald Ave at 2.15pm after “a report of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian”.
A child was found critically injured, while an adult had serious injuries, police said.
Both remain in stable condition after being taken to hospital.
Three others were treated at the scene with minor injuries, St John said on Saturday.
A 49-year-old woman is now due to appear in Christchurch District Court on Friday, May 30, facing two charges of driving dangerously causing injury.
A witness said on Saturday that a child was trapped underneath a car during the incident, which she helped to lift alongside other bystanders, RNZ reported.
Traffic management was in place while emergency services were at the scene.
