One person is in custody after a 15-year-old was allegedly stabbed at Manukau Bus Station last night.
Emergency services responded to a report of an assault at a Manukau Station Rd location at about 8.15pm.
Counties Manukau CIB Detective Inspector Karen Bright said officers found the victim “had an injury consistent with a stab wound”.
A St John spokesperson said one patient was transported to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition.
“Police are working with the victim to understand what exactly has occurred,” Bright said.
“Our inquiries are ongoing, but we do not believe there is any risk to public in connection with this event.”
Police said they had received some information from the public already, but urged any other witnesses or people with information to contact them through 105, online or anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
“We continue to ask the public to report incidents they witness on public transport immediately by calling 111,” a police spokesperson said.
“This can help give police staff the time they need to deploy and hold offenders to account.”
