Alleged robber returned to scene by family

A youth alleged to have robbed a store in Taupō was returned to the scene of the crime by a family member.

Police were called to businesses on Wairakei Drive at around 9.50pm after reports of a robbery.

Police responded immediately, but the offender had already fled the scene.

However, the youth was returned to the scene by a family member shortly afterwards.

They were then taken into custody.

They were due to appear in the Taupō Youth Court today, charged with aggravated robbery.

No injuries were reported.
