The sole occupant of a truck has died after colliding with a power pole in Whangārei overnight.The crash at the intersection of Riverside Dr and Ewing Rd was reported to police shortly before 1.30am today. “The driver of the truck was the sole occupant,” a police spokesperson confirmed. An arrest has been made, after police negotiations with a person at an Auckland bottle store, after a report of a robbery there.Officers were called to the block of shops at Northcote’s Pearn Crescent, shortly before 6pm yesterday.A police spokesperson earlier said officers were talking to a person who remained at the scene.
