Authorities in Samoa say 200,000 litres of diesel has leaked from the Manawanui since it sank on a reef last week.The New Zealand navy ship ran aground, caught fire and sank off the south coast of Upolu in Samoa earlier this month.The HMNZS Manawanui – a specialist dive and hydrographic vessel – had been conducting a reef survey when it hit the reef.Samoa’s Marine Pollution Advisory Committee said there was substantial damage to the reef from the Manawanui’s collision and friction from its anchor.It said the leak was at about 200,000 litres of diesel on Saturday.RNZ Pacific reporter Susana Leiataua…

BNZ’s mobile app and online banking service is down for hundreds of customers across the country this afternoon.Around 5500 reports have been made on the website downdetector.com since 2pm on Saturday.A BNZ spokesperson said the bank was currently experiencing an outage as a result of an issue experienced by a network provider.”This outage is impacting customer service channels, online channels and some internal channels. “ATMs, cards and payments are unaffected. Our teams are investigating this and working with the provider to have this resolved as quickly as possible. “We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused.”

A spate of dog attacks on cats in some Auckland suburbs has prompted a call for all incidents be reported to Auckland Council’s animal management team.The latest Auckland Council data shows there has been a 19% rise in dog attacks on other animals in Auckland over the past 12 months. BNZ says its online banking service is back online after an outage this morning. It is the second outage this weekend, following one yesterday afternoon. Hundreds of people reported that they couldn’t access BNZ between 9am and 12.30pm today. Customers expressed their frustration on social media, saying the recurring outages were not good enough.
