Police have found a body in the search for a man who went missing while swimming in the Whanganui River.
Emergency services were called to Anzac Parade near the Dublin St Bridge around 8.20am yesterday after a shirtless man was spotted swimming in the river and failed to resurface.
This afternoon, police said the dive squad team located his body around 2pm.
“The death is not believed to be suspicious and has been referred to the coroner,” police said.
A rāhui remains in place over the Whanganui River from the walk bridge at Upokongaro to the Mouth of the Whanganui River at the Sea.
