Emergency services were called to the incident in Anthony Crescent, Bader at about 5.20pm on Sunday.
The child who was critically injured and two other adults who were moderately and seriously injured were taken to Waikato Hospital.
“Sadly, the boy died from his injuries yesterday evening,” Inspector Darrell Harpur said.
A 37-year-old man arrested at the scene has been charged with murder and assault and will appear in Hamilton District Court today.
Harpur said police were not seeking anyone else in relation to what happened but would remain in the area as they continued a scene examination and further inquiries.
