Car stolen in Auckland while driver collected food order

Two people have been arrested after a vehicle was allegedly stolen while the driver was collecting a food order on Auckland’s Karangahape Road this morning.

Police told 1News they received reports of a vehicle stolen at around 12.25am, while the driver was busy collecting a meal order.

Tony Turner, Senior Sergeant of Auckland City Police, said police were able to trace the vehicle’s movements through New North Road, Morningside and Kingsland.

“Police units, supported by the Eagle helicopter, responded quickly and were able to block the vehicle in.”

Two occupants were taken into custody.

A 41-year-old woman is charged with unlawfully taking a motor vehicle and driving with excess breath alcohol and is due to appear in Auckland District Court today.
