After her court hearing, it was revealed Ghahraman, whose occupation is listed as a barrister on court documents, had reportedly worked with the judge on her case when they were both lawyers.
At the time, a judicial spokesperson on behalf of the Chief District Court Judge’s office said no perceived conflict of interest was raised.
However, on Wednesday a Ministry of Justice spokesperson told Newshub a complaint has been referred from the Judicial Conduct Commissioner to the Chief District Court Judge.
“As it concerns a matter still before the court it would not be appropriate to comment further,” the spokesperson said.
Ghahraman is set to be sentenced on June 24.
