A day after winning the Champions League in Budapest for the second year in a row, Paris Saint-Germain celebrated their victory at the Parc des Princes in Paris.

The fans interviewed hailed a historic and legendary victory.

“As the slogan said, the first is for history and the second is for the legend,” Tarek, a 42-years-old PSG supporter told Euronews.

For some, the key to success was the experience of a team that has proven itself; for others, it was their coach’s contribution.

“We managed to win this match yesterday thanks to Luis Enrique’s strategy – adaptation, because he knows how to adapt to all kinds of situations, he knows how to endure, he knows how to dominate. So I think it’s thanks to this man that we managed to do this historic double,” says Marius, 14.

For Flore, the recipe for success was “the coach” and “the team”.

“All the players, you can tell it’s really a family. And it’s so beautiful to see and impressive and we are too proud of them,” the 23-year-old fan says.

Violence casting a shadow

Firecrackers, smoke bombs, fireworks: the celebrations lasted well into the night around the Parc des Princes.

Despite a strong security system, numerous incidents and altercations with the police have been observed across the country.

More than 890 people have been arrested in France and 220 injured, according to the authorities.

A man died in a motocross accident on the Paris ring road.

178 police officers and gendarmes were also injured, according to the Minister of the Interior.

During a meeting with the players at the Elysée, French President Emmanuel Macron denounced “unacceptable scenes of violence”, before describing the PSG title as “immense pride for the whole country”.

As all good things come in three, the fans are already dreaming of a third star next season.
