All eyes are on the EU–India summit taking place this week in New Delhi. After months of preparation and a decade of talks, the summit aims to finalise the details of an EU–India free trade agreement — one that would liberalise billions of euros in trade, cutting tariffs on European cars and wine, while expanding market access for Indian electronics, textiles, and chemicals.

Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Council President António Costa spent the weekend on a plane to India. Our Euronews EU editor, Maria Tadeo was also on board and has sent us dispatch from New Delhi, which includes an exclusive interview with Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič, who is also in India.

Then we move to the war in Ukraine, another issue where the EU and India hope to work together. As fighting rages, two days of talks on Ukraine have come to an end in Abu Dhabi.. For more on this, we turn to our Ukraine correspondent Sasha Vakulina.

To discuss this topic but also the EU-India potential trade agreement, who are joined by Thomas Byrne, the Irish Minister of state for European Affairs and defence. Affiliated with the centre right Fianna Fáil party, a solicitor by trade, Minister Byrne has served in a number of roles within government and is currently preparing Ireland for the EU presidency this July.

And last but not least: More and more Europeans are calling for the EU to take full control of its own security. In an interview with Euronews, the Spanish Foreign Affairs Minister José Manuel Albares said Brussels must move towards creating a European army. But what would it mean in practice? Jakub Janas explains.
