Ukraine’s future is at stake this week in Brussels, after Moscow has rejected a counterproposal to the US peace plan in Ukraine drafted by European countries.

Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov described the plan as “unconstructive” and said Moscow would not accept it.

Another hot topic this week in Europe is EU-US trade negotiations.

US officials and EU ministers met yesterday in Brussels for what was expected to be a “frank”, tense discussion about the two sides’ fraught trade deal.

To comment on these topics, we are joined by Margrethe Vestager, former European Commissioner for Competition, known for the landmark EU digital rules, including the Digital Services Act and the Digital Markets Act.

Is it the end of the “Brussels effect”?
