After spending his Friday on the frontline of the war, Ukraine’s President Zelenksyy moved on to Berlin for face to face talks with American officials: US special envoy Steve Witkoff and President Trump’s son in law, Jared Kushner.

The Ukrainian president has hinted Kyiv could drop its long-held ambition of joining NATO in return for Western security guarantees. Maria Tadeo, our EU news editor, will join us to fill us in on the the talks and the latest attempts to end the ongoing war.

Then, we will be joined by CEO of the European Climate Foundation Laurence Tubiana, the French economist and climate diplomat who served as France’s climate change ambassador for the 2015 Paris Climate Conference. Or in other words: the architect of the Paris Agreement.

We will also reflect on the deadly attacks on Bondi Beach this weekend during Hanukkah celebrations. Political leaders across the EU have sent condolences to Australia, expressing solidarity with the victims and their families. Our political correspondent Stefan Grobe will bring us the latest.

Lastly, our reporter Jakub Janas will explain why this week’s meeting of EU heads of state and governments is considered the most important of such nature since the Covid crisis. On the table:A loan for Ukraine to keep the country afloat for the next two years.

When and where to watch Europe Today?

Every morning at 8:00 CET, you can join Euronews’ chief anchor Méabh Mc Mahon and our EU editor Maria Tadeo, who will bring you up to speed on the major news events of the day in our new daily show “Europe Today”.
