The Prime Minister is giving his weekly briefing after New Zealand’s most high profile search came to a fatal end with the shooting of runaway father Tom Phillips by police.
A police officer was also shot and injured in the confrontation and one of Phillips’ children was taken into custody.
Also on the political agenda is the Tāmaki Makaurau byelection, won by Te Pāti Māori’s Oriini Kaipara on Saturday.
The Reserve Bank and the Government’s handling of the issue has also been at the centre of political discussion in recent days.
