One person has been arrested and a homicide investigation launched following the death of a man in Auckland’s New Lynn this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Kaponga Cres in the suburb of New Lynn just before noon to a report of a person injured.
St John responded to the incident with two rapid response units, an ambulance, and an operations manager.
Despite efforts of first responders, the man died at the scene.
Acting Detective Inspector Simon Harrison said one person was taken into custody.
“As such, police are not seeking anyone else in relation to this matter. We would like to reassure the community that this appears to be an isolated incident.”
He said a scene examination was underway and residents could expect an increased police presence as further inquiries were carried out.
