A man has been arrested on an outstanding warrant after photography equipment was mistaken for a firearm at an Auckland CBD hotel this morning.
Police swarmed the Goodview Apartment Hotel on Hobson St following a report of a man with a possible firearm.
“The police incident at an address in Hobson St has been resolved with no ongoing issues,” a police spokesperson told 1News.
“No firearm was located and police believe that in this instance a long piece of photographic equipment was mistaken for a firearm by an observer.”
A man was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant “not relating to this incident”.
Two other people taken into custody were released without charge.
Four officers – three of whom are armed – are at the scene, as well as a K9 unit and six police cars.
