A man has been arrested and a firearm, ammunition, cannabis and a “raft of stolen property” have been seized as part of a police investigation into burglaries across the Franklin District.
Officers on Monday searched three properties linked to Black Power members and their associates in the Auckland suburb of Pukekohe.
During the investigation, officers seized ammunition, cannabis, and a “raft of stolen property”, Detective Senior Sergeant Simon Taylor said.
“Our staff were on scene on Helvetia Rd, assisted by tactical support staff, executing the search warrants at the same time,” Taylor said.
“A man was arrested as a result of the warrants, with charges laid against him and his bail to be opposed.”
The arrest comes as part of Operation Cobalt, a police operation into unlawful gang activity.
“We cannot rule out further search warrants being conducted, or arrests being laid as part of our work.”
A 43-year-old man appeared in the Manukau District Court today charged with three burglaries, unlawful possession of ammunition, and possession of cannabis for supply.
He will be reappearing in the Pukekohe District Court later next month.
