On Sunday afternoon, Detective Inspector Tofilau Faamanuia Vaaelua said a 19-year-old had been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in relation to the injured man, who had since been discharged from hospital.
“A post-mortem examination of the deceased victim was completed earlier today, and police are continuing enquiries to reconstruct the circumstances of his death,” Vaaelua said.
“Once those inquiries are complete, further charges are likely.”
The 19-year-old was due to appear in the Manukau District Court on Monday.
