A man has been charged with murder after another man died following a family harm incident in Pātea yesterday morning.
Emergency services were called to the incident on Dorset St just before 9am.
He was arrested at the scene after a 60-year-old man was found with critical injuries.
“Despite the efforts of emergency services, he was unable to be revived and died at the scene,” police said yesterday.
Police announced the new charges in the homicide investigation this afternoon.
A 34-year-old man is due to appear in the New Plymouth District Court tomorrow charged with murder.
A scene examination is also expected to conclude tomorrow.
“Police would like to hear from anyone who has information relevant to our investigation who has not yet spoken to us,” a spokesperson said.
