Police are appealing for information after an unprovoked assault on two men in Masterton last week left one seriously injured.
The assault occurred on Herbert St at around midnight on June 27.
It is believed the assault involved a group of young people unknown to the two men, a police spokesperson said.
“Inquiries to date indicate that at least some of the group left the scene on foot, walking along Dixon St.”
Anyone with relevant information who witnessed the assault or has CCTV or dashcam footage are urged to contact police on 105.
Herbert St and the southern end of Dixon St were closed for a time due to a police operation this afternoon.
People were advised to avoid the area at around 3.30pm on Thursday.
