A Nelson man has pleaded guilty to 50 charges related to the creation, distribution, and possession of child abuse and bestiality material.

An investigation into Storm Constable-Carter, 22, was launched by the Department of Internal Affairs’ Digital Child Exploitation Team after a video depicting bestiality involving an infant was identified in a cloud storage location.
“The file was subsequently located in two separate internet accounts operated by Constable-Carter,” a DIA spokesperson said.
The man was charged with four counts of creating objectionable material depicting bestiality and urination; 21 counts of distributing objectionable material depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children, and bestiality; and 25 counts of possession of objectionable material depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children, and bestiality.
Constable-Carter pleaded guilty to the 50 charges in the Nelson District Court today.
According to the DIA, the maximum penalty for knowingly making, trading, distributing, or displaying an objectionable publication on the internet was 14 years in prison.
Knowingly possessing objectionable publications carried a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
Constable-Carter was due to reappear for sentencing on December 16.
