A motorcyclist was taken to hospital in a critical condition this morning, after colliding with a car in Auckland this morning.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Pakuranga Road and Stanniland Street in Pakuranga shortly after 8.50am today after a motorcycle and car crashed.
“The motorcyclist is said to have critical injuries,” police said.
St John said one person had been transported to Auckland City hospital in a critical condition.
In an update this afternoon, police said the motorcyclist remains in hospital and is undergoing surgery.
The road is also expected to reopen soon.
“The circumstances of the crash will be investigated,” police said.
Another rider critical in Bay of Plenty
Following a separate crash, another motorcycle rider is in critical condition following a crash.
Main Road Murupara is closed between Pine Drive, and Kowhai Avenue is closed while emergency services attend the scene.
“Motorists and pedestrians are asked to avoid the area while diversions are in place.”
