One person has been seriously injured after a grievous assault on Auckland’s North Shore this morning.
Police were called to Hayman Place in Beach Haven at around 10am after a person received serious injuries from a weapon which was not identified by police — but was not a firearm.
“The alleged offender fled the scene, and the victim transported themselves to hospital,” a police spokesperson said.
“There is an increased police presence in the area while inquiries are ongoing to locate the offender.”
Police believed it was an isolated incident and there was no further risk to the wider community, the spokesperson added.
“A section of Hayman Pl is cordoned off and we ask that members of the public avoid the area.”
